NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) Funeral fund

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) has been providing funeral assistance grants to support thousands of bereaved Aboriginal families for more than a decade.

Depending on eligibility, Aboriginal people in New South Wales are eligible for grants of either $1000 or $5000 to assist with funeral expenses.

The scheme is not capped which means that the NSW Aboriginal Land Council can respond to demand for funeral assistance from year to year.

The question about whether land should be allocated for burial grounds is a matter for Local Land Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs).

It's important that the members of LALCs decide how their land should be used because they know the priorities of their local communities.
