NSW Aboriginal Land Council Elections update: nominations open for candidates

People intending to nominate as candidates at the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) Election have until 12noon, Tuesday 6 October to nominate.

The election will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2015.

Prospective candidates need to fill in nomination forms and other documentation which is available on the NSW Electoral Commission website at https://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/alc_election/nominations or by calling the Commission on 02 9290 5966.

With just over one week until nominations close, potential candidates should take into consideration the time required to prepare forms and lodge them with the NSW Election Commission, particularly if lodging by post.

In addition, nominations can not be accepted without the required deposit ($50).

NSWALC Councillors are elected to represent the political, cultural, social and economic interests of the Aboriginal community in New South Wales.

The nine elected Councillors set the strategic direction of NSWALC and make decisions on a range of issues affecting Aboriginal people in New South Wales including land, support and community programs.

For further information about the roles of Councillors and to keep up-to-date about the election, visit the NSWALC website at /land-councils/2015-nswalc-election.aspx
