SEEKING ANSWERS: BOWRAVILLE MURDERS

Monday November 21, 2011

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council is assisting with plans to present a petition to the New South Wales Parliament on behalf of the Aboriginal residents of Bowraville.

BACKGROUND

The tragedy is well known that twenty one years ago over a six month period three Aboriginal children, Colleen Walker-Craig, Evelyn Greenup and Clinton Speedy-Duroux were murdered in the small town on the mid north coast of New South Wales.

To date no person has been convicted of these crimes.

The families of the murdered children supported by friends and the community have fought long and hard to find justice.

Despite the numerous setbacks and rejections they have kept faith in the judicial system in the hope that justice would be done.  However after 21 years their patience has run out.

ACTION

NSWALC Chair Stephen Ryan and Councillor for the Mid North Coast, Peter Smith, are asking all LALC members across the network to sign a community petition in support of the families of the three victims.

The petition calls for the NSW Parliament and the Attorney General to address a number of questions from the community in relation to the unsolved crimes.

WHERE & WHEN

A delegation of family members and other concerned community will be assembling at State Parliament to present the petition to Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner at 10:00am on Thursday November 24, 2011.

NSWALC is encouraging all its members to support the Bowraville community and the victims' families in their fight for answers.

Sign the petition and pledge your support on Thursday morning!
