Commonwealth Support Program for Youpla Policyholders is Now Open

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) welcomes news that the Australian Government has now opened a funeral benefit program to assist families affected by the collapse of the Youpla Group.

Youpla Group and its companies operated the Aboriginal Community Benefit Fund No.1 and No.2 (ACBF), the Aboriginal Community Funeral Plan and Community Funeral Plans.

The Australian Government’s interim Youpla Group Funeral Benefits Program (the Program) is open from today and will provide urgent financial assistance to eligible families who need to pay for funerals now. At this stage, the Program will be available to families until 30 November 2023.

The payment amount will be the same as any benefit amount the person would have received under his or her Youpla or ACBF policy, and is not a compensation scheme.

From today, 7 September, community members can contact the Program with enquiries, or for an application form. They will need supporting documents when they apply.
