Expressions of Interest Sought for the NSWALC Fishing Fund

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is seeking Expressions of Interest from existing or start-up Aboriginal fishing businesses for the NSWALC Fishing Fund.

There is over $1 million in Grant Funding still available to be used under the Fund before 30 June 2024.

Expressions of Interest can be submitted to NSWALC at any time.

What is the NSWALC Fishing Fund?

The NSWALC Fishing Fund is a partnership with the Commonwealth Government’s National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and aims to support the growth and development of the NSW Aboriginal fishing industry in the aqua-culture, wild harvest or charter fishing sectors to achieve long term economic and employment opportunities.

What funding is available?

Both grants and loans are available to existing or start-up Aboriginal fishing businesses for aqua-culture, wild harvest or charter fishing. Applicants can apply for grants or loans of up to $500,000. 

Expressions of Interest for the NSWALC Fishing Fund

Although there is no closing date for EOIs, people interested in submitting an EOI for grants and/or loans from the NSWALC Fishing Fund are encouraged to do so in the next few months.

On review of EOIs, NSWALC may request you to submit a formal application. Applications will be assessed by NSWALC’s independent Aboriginal Fishing Advisory Committee and NSWALC. We will provide you with advice and assistance through the application process.

Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must be Aboriginal or an Aboriginal entity (business).
