Tameka O’Donnell

Tameka O’Donnell is a proud Paarkantji Wilyakali woman from Broken Hill in NSW.

Tameka believes that drug use in rural communities is having a profound impact on young people including homelessness, unemployment, poor health, and poor relationships.

As a nurse, Tameka sees the positive impact culturally-targeted programs have on mental and physical illnesses and says this approach must be prioritised in the health system.

Tameka is a member and Board member of the Broken Hill Local Aboriginal Land Council, was a member of the Youth Advisory Council for the Murdi Paaki Young Leaders Project and was involved with the Indigenous Leaders Project at the University of Adelaide.
