NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) has today announced its support of 22 events across regional NSW as part of its 2025-2026 Regional Events Grants Program.
The 22 incredible Aboriginal Community Organisations will be bringing vibrant events to communities throughout NSW across the next 12 months.
This year marks the highest number of applications received and support delivered in the Program’s history.
NSWALC Chairperson Raymond Kelly said he was thrilled to see a record-breaking number of applications received this year and that it was a testament to the work of NSWALC.
“These events are incredibly important for our Local Aboriginal Land Council’s (LALC) on the ground and we are honoured to play a small part in bringing these to life across the State,” Cr Kelly said.
“These events honour and uplift Aboriginal cultures and sporting excellence. They platform Aboriginal voices and bring our communities together for moments of regional significance on Country. We are looking forward to seeing mob enjoy these events throughout the year”.
Some of the events supported include Bathurst LALC’s Winter on the Wambuul, Moree LALC’s 2026 Aboriginal Bowls Carnival, Darkinjung LALC’s NAIDOC Day 2025, Casino Boolangle LALC’s Kangaroo Festival, and Mogo LALC’s Mogodha NAIDOC Big Day Out 2025.
Other notable events include Northern United Rugby League Football Club’s Lismore Aboriginal KO, Colly Connected Indigenous Corporation’s Collarenebri Cultural Sports Carnival 2026, Eden LALC’s Next Generation Jigamy NAIDOC Schools Cultural Experience and finally Twofold Aboriginal Corporation’s partnership with the Giiyong Festival.
The NSWALC Regional Events Grants Program forms part of NSWALC’s Community Benefits Scheme, which is enabled under section 108 of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW), and aims to support and strengthen community-driven initiatives.

| NSWALC is the State’s peak representative body in Aboriginal Affairs and aims to protect the interests and further the aspirations of the 121 NSW Local Aboriginal Land Councils and the broader Aboriginal community. It was established in the 1970s to assist in the fight for land rights and was formally constituted as a statutory corporation under the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act in 1983.
