Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2022 (PID Act) is NSW Legislation that requires the reporting of serious wrongdoing in or affecting the public sector. The Act includes all LALCs in NSW as 'public officials'.

Wrongdoing may include corrupt conduct, unlawful decisions, not abiding by proper procedures and policies by a LALC, public official or an agency managing procurement, business transactor or other functions of the LALC. Serious wrongdoing may be driven by personal gain or on behalf of others benefiting in ways that do not align with the LALC's interest.

Under the Act, all agencies, including NSWALCs and LALCs, must have a PID Policy. The policy must be available on their websites, intranets, and Social Media sites.

If you would like further information about your responsibilities under the PID ACT – please click here Ombudsman factsheet PID for LALC information sheet (nsw.gov.au)

To assist LALCs with their requirement to have a PID Policy, NSWALC has developed a LALC Model PID Policy for your LALC to develop their own.
