Who is NSW CAPO?
The NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) embodies a collective of esteemed peak bodies representing Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations across New South Wales. With a commitment to fortifying Aboriginal voices, we champion independence and coordination in addressing pertinent issues faced by Aboriginal communities within the state.
Aligned with our dedication to effecting tangible change, NSW CAPO has formally endorsed the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. In a collaborative effort with the NSW Government, we actively engage in implementing this Agreement, ensuring its resonance and efficacy within New South Wales.
Comprised of self-determining non-government Aboriginal peak bodies, our member organisations operate with an ethos of accountability and community representation. Governed by boards democratically elected by Aboriginal communities, these bodies serve as steadfast advocates for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal People throughout New South Wales.
In embodying our mission, NSW CAPO functions as a dynamic nexus, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives to effect meaningful change. As stewards of collective advocacy, we strive to uphold the principles of self-determination, empowerment, and cultural integrity in all facets of our endeavours.
Presently, the NSW CAPO stands as a testament to unity and collaboration, with its member organisations collectively shaping a more equitable and inclusive future for Aboriginal Peoples in New South Wales.
