Junior Rangers Program

Junior Rangers Program

The Land Warriors Junior Rangers Program, a culturally relevant, school-based Indigenous Ranger initiative that is being delivered in seven locations across New South Wales.

The program is being rolled out via NSWALC in the following communities: Armidale, Dubbo, Lightning Ridge, Menindee, Orange, Trangie, and Wentworth (Dareton)

The Junior Rangers Program is designed to link Australian curriculum subjects with immersive on-Country learning experiences. By blending traditional classroom education with practical environmental studies in natural landscapes, the program aims to foster a deeper connection to the land and strengthen Aboriginal students' cultural knowledge and identity.

The program helps instil pride in Aboriginal heritage while providing vital knowledge on environmental stewardship and sustainable land practices.

This initiative is funded under the Children and Schooling Program, which is funded to improve school attendance, retention, and attainment for Aboriginal students. By offering this program, we aim to enhance student engagement and create opportunities for growth, learning, and connection to Country.

Through the Land Warriors Junior Rangers Program, Aboriginal students will not only gain knowledge in key academic areas but will also develop a strong sense of pride in their cultural heritage, shaping them into future environmental stewards and community leaders.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this program will have on students and communities across NSW.
