NSWALC is proud to congratulate Shannon Mallison on her nomination for the Women of Western Sydney (Indigenous Leadership) Award by Western Sydney University. This award recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made a meaningful impact on Indigenous Australian communities across Western Sydney.
Shannon, a proud Wiradjuri woman from Central West NSW, has dedicated nearly 20 years to working with and for Aboriginal communities and organisations across the state. She is passionate about the advancement and empowerment of Aboriginal people through business, employment, education, and access to Country, with a strong focus on community and economic development. Throughout her career, she has applied her skills, qualifications, experience, and cultural knowledge across a range of industries, including business development, supply chain diversity, procurement, and tourism development.
Reflecting on her nomination, Shannon shared “I am proud of what I have been able to achieve over my career working with and for Aboriginal communities, particularly the last 6 years with Yarpa. Working with Western Sydney University to deliver our Yarpa Grow program has been a highlight of my career, and I am extremely humbled and grateful that they believe I deserve to be nominated for this award.”
The Women of Western Sydney Awards celebrate outstanding contributions across various sectors, including Arts, Community, Social Enterprise, Sport, and STEM. Winners will be announced at Western Sydney University’s International Women’s Day Celebration on Thursday, 6 March 2025.
