Aboriginal Land Rights Achievements in NSW
The NSW Aboriginal Land Council is proud to share Success Stories: Aboriginal Land Rights Achievements in NSW — a publication highlighting the strength, resilience and innovation of the Aboriginal Land Rights Network across New South Wales.
Success stories from LALCs
The booklet showcases the achievements of Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) and communities across NSW, demonstrating how land rights deliver meaningful social, cultural and economic outcomes for Aboriginal people.
The case studies featured throughout the report highlight the diverse ways LALCs are activating land, strengthening culture, creating employment opportunities, supporting young people, delivering community services and building long-term community wellbeing. From cultural centres and ranger programs to youth initiatives, tourism enterprises and community infrastructure projects, these stories reflect the ongoing impact of Aboriginal self-determination in action.
The report also recognises the history and importance of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, which was established to help address the dispossession of Aboriginal people in NSW and create a foundation for cultural renewal, community empowerment and economic independence.
