NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) would like to extend a thank you to everyone who has supported the opposition against the Crown Lands Amendment Bill so far… But our fight does not end here.
Our serious concerns around the proposed changes remain. The Bill contains targeted, discriminatory provisions designed to undermine the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (ALRA). The Bill will hollow out the compensatory intent of the ALRA.
NSWALC continues to call for proper, fair and genuine consultation.
There are still important ways to stand in support and ensure Aboriginal voices remain at the centre of these discussions.
A key focus for us in showing unity against the Bill is the petition. There are now two ways community members can sign the petition – online via the website here, or by completing the new print version – available for download here.
Our petition currently has almost 8,000 signatures, but we need more than 20,000 signatures for it to be debated in NSW Parliament.
We recognise that having a paper copy available is essential for some members of the community. For those who want to use a print version, please return via post or email using the details below.
Please return completed petition forms to:
