Isaiah Firebrace to help Land Rights network celebrate 40 years 

X Factor winner and Australia's Eurovision entry Isaiah Firebrace will help celebrate 40 years of Land Rights in New South Wales at a Gala Dinner to be held in Sydney next month.

The 17-year-old, from Moama, joins legendary rock band Coloured Stone on the line-up, as the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) celebrates the achievements of the Land Rights network in NSW.

The Gala Dinner, with the theme 40 Years Strong: Our Land Council Our Mob Our Future will pay tribute to the Land Rights legends, past and present.

NSWALC Chair Roy Ah-See said the Gala Dinner recognised the efforts of the more than 200 people who in October 1977 met at the Redfern Black Theatre to lay the foundation for Land Rights.

"The grassroots struggle for Land Rights started with this historic meeting in Redfern and resulted six years later in the best Land Rights system in Australia.

"On 29 September we're celebrating a success story that contributes to the cultural, social and economic life of New South Wales," Cr Ah-See said.

Isaiah was crowned X Factor's winner on his birthday, singing his debut single It's Gotta Be You.

"This has been my dream, and I can't believe it came true on my birthday," he said at the time.

That win in November 2016 secured him a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.

Not long back from the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in the Ukraine in May, Isaiah will take time out from his busy schedule to perform at the Gala Dinner.

At the Eurovision Song Contest he performed the power ballad Don't Come Easy, written by David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii, the songwriters who came up with last year's Australian Eurovision hit Sound of Silence by Dami Im.

He's no stranger to performing and will be looking forward to the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd.

"I love the energy from a big crowd, I think any performer does. You can draw so much energy from a big crowd," he said.

Isaiah Firebrace is already a familiar performer with Australian audiences and has enjoyed success overseas.

His X Factor hit It's Gotta Be You, which went platinum in Sweden and charted in Denmark and Norway, and has hit 110 million streams of Spotify worldwide.

Although success has come quickly to the young singer, he hasn't forgotten his roots.

In early August, he journeyed back to his hometown for a performance organised by the Ulumbarra Foundation, where he was able to thank his supporters.

He stopped mid show to thank his followers, saying their support had "changed his life".
