A Decade of Struggle Rewarded

July 22, 2010

Bev Manton, Chairwoman of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) has offered her congratulations to Mick Mundine and the team at the Aboriginal Housing Company following the City of Sydney's decision to transfer seven parcels of land back into Aboriginal hands.

The seven lots are situated on Eveleigh Street in Redfern, and this latest development brings the long running Pemulwuy Project a step closer to reality.

"Mick Mundine and the AHC have fought long and hard for over a decade to make this dream a reality, and with this week's decision from Council, they're a step closer to achieving their ultimate goal," Chairwoman Bev Manton said.

"In the true fighting spirit of Pemulwuy, this decision is evidence of how tenacity and patience can produce a positive return," she said.
