Land Rights network honours Brian (Jock) Allen

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council mourns the passing of Land Rights warrior Brian (Jock) Allen.

Jock represented the Northern Region at the State and Regional levels and was a founding member of the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council for which he was a current board member.

An ATSIC councillor and AHO Committee representative, he fought for better living conditions and the right to appropriate housing for our people.

A knowledge-holder, teacher and leader, Jock will be greatly missed.

Jock's cultural knowledge was invaluable and he freely shared this knowledge with young Aboriginal people and his wider community.

Given his passion for his Culture and Heritage, as well as his vast knowledge and training, Jock was actively involved in identifying, recording, protecting and passing on his knowledge. For this he was respected throughout the community and afar.

Jock dedicated more than three decades of his life to harnessing his knowledge and political power to establish Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council into the success it is today.

The Land Rights network will always remember Jock's leading role in fighting for Land Rights and economic independence for Aboriginal peoples in Tamworth and the Northern Region and the State.

Family and friends of Brian (Jock) Allen are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Monday, 19 September from 2.00pm at:
