NSW Aboriginal Land Council Elections update: nominations open for candidates

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council election will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2015.

Nominations for candidates interested in contesting the NSW Aboriginal Land Council Election are open from today.

Prospective candidates have until 12noon, Tuesday 6 October to nominate.

People intending to stand for the election need to fill in nomination forms and other documentation which is available on the Electoral Commission NSW website at https://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/alc_election/nominations or by calling the Commission on 02 9290 5966.

NSWALC Councillors are elected to represent the political, cultural, social and economic interests of the Aboriginal community in New South Wales.

The nine elected Councillors set the strategic direction of NSWALC and make decisions on a range of issues affecting Aboriginal people in New South Wales including land, support and community programs.

The Electoral Commission NSW is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, 22 September at 11am to guide potential candidates through the nomination process.
