NSWALC Property Development Assistance Program

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council is pleased to announce the establishment of the NSWALC Property Development Assistance Program.

The program has been established to assist and support Local Aboriginal Land Councils in New South Wales anticipating development of their land.

NSWALC's intention is to assist LALC's in exploring potential development opportunities and to provide support, guidance and feedback relative to the commercially sound development of LALC land.

LALC's will be pleased to know that NSWALC is providing this assistance at its own expense, and at no cost to land councils.

It is important to note that the focus of this program is NOT to undertake property development on behalf of any LALC, nor to provide advice to LALC's. The program is aimed at providing guidance and suggestions to LALC's in relation to:

  • The potential land development opportunities for LALC land
  • Possible options for structuring of land development projects & how those projects might be funded
  • How the risks relative to land development can be identified and appropriately managed

NSWALC expects that the Property Development Assistance Program will provide support to LALC's in the sometimes difficult and complex initial stages of a project when alternative land development opportunities are being considered, preliminary investigations undertaken, and suitably qualified consultants engaged.

In order to provide LALC's with this support, NSWALC has engaged the services of an experienced property consultant, Mr. Terry Wilson.

Mr. Wilson has a strong business and property background and in recent years has held senior positions with both Westfield Limited and Indigenous Business Australia.

NSWALC is of the view that this type of property development assistance may be very useful to LALC's across New South Wales and we anticipate that there will be significant  demand for access to the program.

If you wish to discuss how this new NSWALC Property Development Assistance Program may be of benefit to your LALC, please contact Julie Van Agten, Director Commercial Unit on (02) 9689 4414 or via email on julie.vanagten@alc.org.au
