Be wise and get immunized

1 July, 2015

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council and Aboriginal Medical Service at Redfern joined forced this year to spread the word about protecting yourself from ‘flu strains.

Some 20 staff at the NSWALC office in Parramatta adopted the AMS Redfern motto of “be wise and get immunized”, rolled up their sleeves and received the ‘flu shot.

Immunization is a crucial element of optimal health management.  This is particularly so for the elderly, the very young and those at high risk of chronic disease.  Our mob are particularly vulnerable to conditions such as ‘flu due to a high incidence of chronic disease, including diabetes in comparison to non-Aboriginal people.
