The Federal Government has launched an inquiry into the destruction of the 46,000-year-old caves at the Juukan Gorge in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
It has referred the matter to the Joint Standing Committee on Northern Australia for inquiry and report by 30 September 2020.
NSWALC will be making a submission to this parliamentary committee and is encouraging Local Aboriginal Land Councils to consider doing so as well.
This is part of a broad national problem which NSWALC is taking affirmative action to prevent happening again through the formation of the First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance.

Enough is enough. Together we can bring about change to protect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and Australian history.
