NSWALC supports Knockout 2016

 28 September 2016

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is proud to support the 2016 NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout.

The 46th Knockout, hosted by Redfern All Blacks, will be held at Leichhardt Oval and adjoining ovals from Friday 30 September to Monday 3 October.

NSWALC Chair Roy Ah-See said NSWALC is continuing its long-standing commitment to the Knockout by providing a grant of up to $75,000 to this year's event organisers Redfern All Blacks.

The funding of $1000 per team helps discount registration fees for the first 75 male or female teams to register for the event.

The grant has been made available under the NSWALC State-wide grants Community Benefits Scheme.

This year, the Redfern All Blacks will reimburse teams that receive the $1000 once they are eliminated from the Knockout. Teams can either choose to take a cheque on the day or have the reimbursement direct debited to a club account.

For more information on this process please contact Redfern All Blacks at rabko2016@outlook.com

Cr Ah-See said NSWALC understood the challenges faced by many teams in fielding a team for the Knockout.

"Many communities spent most of the year battling to raise enough funds to send teams to the Knockout.

"That's why the NSW Aboriginal Land Council has a long-standing commitment to increasing participation in one of the biggest cultural gatherings for our mob.

The Knockout will be held on Leichhardt Oval No 1 and 2 and the Blackmore and Glover Street ovals in Lilyfield, Sydney.

NSWALC will be part of the Knockout's celebrations and invites community to visit the NSWALC stall.
