A Redfern icon passed on

February 15, 2011

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council would like to express its deepest commiserations to the Scott and Ingram family following the recent passing of Sylvia.

Sylvia had close links with the land rights movement, with several of the Scott's working within the land council network for some years.

Sylvia, a Wiradjuri woman, became a respected elder and icon of the Redfern area in South Sydney.

She worked closely with the community for many years, and her commitment to her family and her people will be fondly remembered.
