The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is seeking your feedback on the draft NSWALC Strategic Plan Supplement 2023-2026.

Please provide your comments to NSWALC by Wednesday, 21 June 2023. Details on how to have your say are at the end of this Network Message.

DRAFT NSWALC STRATEGIC PLAN SUPPLEMENT 2023-2026

The draft Strategic Plan Supplement includes our strategies for achieving NSWALC’s long-term objectives and goals set out in our Strategic Plan 2022-2026.

NSWALC STRATEGIC PLAN 2022-2026

NSWALC’s Strategic Plan 2022-2026 (available at www.alc.org.au) sets out our agenda to secure a better future for Aboriginal peoples in NSW and to maximise the social, cultural, economic and political potential of our land and people. NSWALC’s goals over the five years of the Plan are to:

  • Secure Our Land and Water Rights
  • Protect and Promote Our Culture and Heritage
  • Pursue Economic Independence and Prosperity for Our People
  • Support Our People and Local Aboriginal Land Councils
  • Secure Our Future

HOW NSWALC’S STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKS

The Strategic Plan and Strategic Plan Supplement serve as NSWALC’s Community, Land and Business Plan in accordance with section 137A of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 NSW (ALRA).

This approach integrates NSWALC’s budget and planning, and structures reporting to Council and the Network around the Strategic Plan.

The Strategic Plan Supplement 2023-2026 will complement the Strategic Plan over three years rather than annually, as with previous Supplements.

The benefits of an extended Supplement life include:

  • More efficient use of resources over a three-year period
  • Minimising consultation fatigue for the Network and Aboriginal Owners
  • Greater visibility for Council over the next three years
  • Greater ability to strategise and plan ahead to achieve better outcomes

NSWALC will continue to consult with LALCs, Members and Aboriginal Owners in the development of the supplements.

The NSWALC Council is determined to see our people and our efforts succeed and looks forward to hearing your feedback.
