Matriarch lost but never forgotten

January 6, 2011

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council would like to extend its deepest condolences to the Munro family who've recently seen the passing of loved matriarch Maggie Munro.

Carmine May Munro was the cherished wife of Lyall Munro Snr as well as Grandmother and Great Grandmother to the extended Munro clan.

Maggie was a strong supporter of Aboriginal land rights and will be sorely missed throughout the network.

She, along with husband Lyall fought long and hard for equal rights in the Moree region, and remained fervent warriors in the protection of local Gamilaraay heritage.

Maggie's legacy will not be forgotten and is sure to live on in the Munro name.

May she rest in peace.
