NAIDOC Week 2022 – Get UP! Stand Up! Show Up!

4 July, 2022

4 July 2022

NAIDOC 2022 is here, with the important theme this year of Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! from Sunday July 3 – Sunday July 10.

Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! is an affirmation and a reminder of the ongoing fight for positive change and the importance of staying strong and connected together.

We also celebrate our Elders who drove and led change in our communities for generations. The Land Rights warriors who met at the Black Theatre in Redfern and planned, strategised, marched and advocated are the heroes who stood up for legislated Land Rights in NSW. The Land Rights Network and communities continue their work, for a positive future for Aboriginal peoples in NSW.

This is most likely the first NAIDOC since COVID-19 arrived in Australia in 2020, where many of us feel more comfortable about going to local events and getting together with family and friends.

NSWALC would love to celebrate together and share your NAIDOC celebrations across the network, so please tag @nswalc with how you’re spending NAIDOC.

Here’s a taste of some NSW events across NAIDOC Week 2022, many organised and hosted by Local Aboriginal Land Councils.

Stay safe and happy across NAIDOC week everyone!
