NSWALC consultations on sustainability, economic development and capacity building:

15 August, 2013

NSW Aboriginal Land Council consultations on sustainability, economic development and capacity building: September - October 2013

August 15, 2013

The future financial and operational sustainability of the self-funded Aboriginal land rights network in NSW has been the subject of considerable discussion and debate in recent years.

A number of factors have been driving this debate, including the need for the NSW Aboriginal Land Council Account to be maintained for future generations.

Additionally, the Council has identified economic development and capacity building as a key priority in its Strategic Plan 2013-2017. The Council has developed an economic development discussion paper that proposes a framework for network economic development.

NSWALC invites members of Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) to a series of workshops to discuss the Network's sustainability, economic development and capacity building.

Workshops will provide LALC members with an opportunity to comment and give feedback on a variety of proposals to support the ongoing sustainability of the Network as well as economic development opportunities.
