State Funeral for the late Charles (Chicka) Dixon

I am pleased to inform you that the family of the late Charles (Chicka) Dixon have accepted the NSW Premier's offer of a State funeral.

The funeral will be held next Wednesday, March 31, at Sydney Town Hall at 2.30 pm.

It will be followed by a wake at Yarra Bay House at La Perouse to which all are invited.

The burial, for family and friends, will be at Botany in Sydney.

Uncle Chicka spent his life fighting for the basic human rights and justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  He was always a man of great compassion and integrity and will forever be regarded as one of the most influential figures in contemporary Aboriginal history in this country.
