UPDATE: Major Flooding Continues Across the Mid North Coast

22 May, 2025

Communities across the Mid North coast of NSW continue to be impacted by intense rainfall and life-threatening flash flooding.

Locations affected include Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree, Kempsey, Woolgoolga, Sawtell, Dorrigo, Wingham, Nambucca and Yarrowitch. NSW SES has also been responding to major flooding on the Hastings River, Gloucester River, Williams River and Paterson River.

Advice from NSW SES is to STAY INDOORS during severe weather unless you have been directed to evacuate.

If you are told to evacuate

  • You may be told to evacuate by text message, a phone call to your landline, someone at your door, or a warning siren.
  • Follow the instructions to leave immediately. Grab your emergency kit if you have one, and supplies for 3 to 7 days.
  • Assist household members who need extra help evacuating.
  • Tell your neighbours and friends of your decision and assist them, if you can.
  • If there’s time before you leave, turn off the power, gas, water, and lock doors and windows.
  • Stay with friends or family in a safe location if you can, or at an evacuation centre.
  • Check evacuation routes are open via Live Traffic

Domestic pets: Domestic pets should be taken with you when evacuating to an evacuation centre. You must have your animal emergency grab and go bag with you.

Larger animals/livestock: If you need assistance with stock or animal welfare due to flooding, call the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647,  Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

Livestock owners can gain emergency access to Local Land Services-managed travelling stock reserves (TSRs) on higher ground, allowing them to move their livestock for emergency refuge and grazing. Contact LLS on 1300 795 299 for further information and advice on accessing TSRs during emergencies.
