Serving Our Country – Professor John Maynard

11 June, 2015

Professor John Maynard is a Worimi man, a historian and a Director of the Wollotuka Institute at the University of Newcastle.

In this ANZAC Centenary year, under a national Australia Research Council grant, John is a researcher on the project, ‘Serving Our Country: a history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the defence of Australia’.

We spoke to John about the project and the vital role Indigenous people played through the defence force.

We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the lands where we work as well as across the lands we travel through. We also acknowledge our Elders past, present and emerging.
