Land Rights Volunteers - National Volunteer Week 2019

Every day across NSW, hundreds of Aboriginal people volunteer their time, expertise and energy to the Land Rights network.

Our network has more than 1,000 people guiding the direction of 120 Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and many more community members who give their time in a multitude of ways.

NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) would like to acknowledge and thank Land Rights   volunteers during National Volunteer Week.

National Volunteer Week runs from May 20-26 and celebrates the six million Australians who volunteer their time to causes in Australia.

NSWALC Chair Roy Ah-See said the generosity of our Land Rights volunteers should always be remembered and appreciated.

"From sitting on Boards to organising community events, caring for country and bringing up our children, our volunteers are the backbone of our communities.

They donate millions of hours every year, and on behalf of the Council, I want to extend our thanks for making a difference," he said.

Cr Ah-See said National Volunteer Week is the perfect opportunity for everyone to reach out and say thanks.

"Our volunteers give their time every week, not just National Volunteer Week.

So the next time one of our Elders picks up the kids and takes them to school, someone tidies up the LALC kitchen or organises a community cleanup - reach out and say thanks for their commitment," he said.
