
ThThe New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is advising the Network that the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan (the Plan) has been finalised and is now available here.
The Plan sets NSWALC’s strategic direction, priorities and activities for the next four years, providing an overarching framework to guide our policy, advocacy and operational work.
Focused on strengthening the NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Network, the Plan supports Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) to protect Land Rights, deliver on community priorities and build prosperity for future generations.
The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan identifies four strategic goal areas:
- Strong Foundations
- Community Impact
- Land Activation
- Advocacy Voice
The Plan also aligns with NSWALC’s vision of empowering Aboriginal peoples, supporting self-determination and connection to Country, land, culture and community.
The Plan outlines critical milestones across the 2026–2030 period, including progressing policy and law reform to strengthen Aboriginal Land Rights, commencing the review of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, advancing land activation projects across biodiversity and delivering redesigned systems and resources to support LALCs.
The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan focuses on the key priority areas include:
- Supporting LALCs to improve their governance and organisational capability
- Land acquisition, activation and utilisation
- Community-led planning and development
- Advocacy and law reform, including Aboriginal culture and heritage
- Economic and business enterprise development
- Supporting LALCs to deliver positive community outcomes.
