A huge turnout for the 2017 Lake Macquarie Elders Olympics
The buses began rumbling up to Bahtabah Local Aboriginal Land Council from late morning, the day before the 2017 Elders Olympics.
Hundreds of Elders converged from around the state for the annual event, and to catch up with family and friends.
The LALC had extended an invitation to all teams to arrive early and visit for a solid lunch, cuppa and yarns before the big events the next day.
Bahtabah and Biraban LALCS represented the Lake Macquarie Elders, winners of the 2016 Olympics and hosts for the 2017 Games held at Speers Point Park.
NSW Aboriginal Land Council was also proud to again be a major event sponsor.
And if you ever thought that hundreds of Elders would only be interested in a “catchup” – think again!
Competition on-field was fierce, boisterous and friendly.
Off-field, talk centred on grandchildren, community gossip and the gala awards that night.
