The Aboriginal Cultural Showcase 2017

Every January, tens of thousands of people from around the world converge on Tamworth in NSW for the iconic Tamworth Country Music Festival.

And dozens of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians also perform at the Aboriginal Cultural Showcase, an event going from strength to strength each year.

The Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council organised the four-day extravaganza across the 2017 Country Music Festival week – featuring artists like Roger Knox, Buddy Knox, Troy Cassar-Daley, Warren H Williams and Dani Young and Torres Strait guitar virtuoso Chris Tamwoy.

NSW Aboriginal Land Council supported the event, and OurMob streamed many of the performances live on social media on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nswalc/

You’ll find a live recording of Roger Knox and Troy Cassar-Daley below, singing Roger’s “Streets of Tamworth” and a special performance by Chris Tamwoy on guitar.
