A New Life for Peat Island

A bright new future is ahead for Kooroowall-Undi, or  Peat Island,  on the NSW Central Coast, following an historic ownership transfer to the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council.

The island and a portion of the mainland foreshore at Mooney Mooney on Deerubbin,  or the Hawkesbury River, are now owned by the DLALC, following an eight-year process and 10 months of intense negotiations.…

Next steps to Closing the Gap welcomed by Aboriginal peaks

The NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) has welcomed today’s launch of the 2022-2024 NSW Closing the Gap Implementation Plan and a $15 million Community and Place Grants Program.

The Committee is responsible for assessing funding applications and providing recommendations, advice, and direction to the NSWALC Council on applications to the NSWALC Fishing Fund (NFF).

Sorry Business – Passing of Rob Welsh

NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) and the Land Rights network mourn the passing of Gomeroi and Murrawarri man Rob Welsh. Rob also had connections via his mother to the Anawin & Dunghutti people.
